Because the little town of Kingston, Ontario, is SUCH a quaint, stunning little university town, there are a few holidays/events that are very significant to me, mainly due to the amount of love and spirit that Queen's students allot to them each year.
And St. Patty's Day happens to be one of them.
Above is a picture taken on the notorious Aberdeen St. (where riots have occurred during past Queen's Homecoming), and is typically a place where many parties occur when necessary. It is not uncommon during these times to find police kindly writing drinking tickets and confiscating alcohol from severely intoxicated students, nor to spot someone funneling an enormously long pipe of beer from the rooftop of a student apartment down to the lawn.
Sadly, because I am so preoccupied with a much more adult life these days in the city of Toronto, it has been extremely difficult to find a weekend to sneak up to Queen's and my fellow Kingstonites. Throughout the year it has been my goal to return to Queen's to relive, by far, the GREATEST celebration ever known to campus. But, given the stark combination of the ridiculously cold weather, work, school, and just overall life, I did not get the chance to sneak up this fine Monday :(
... maybe next year?
Happy St. Patty's Day!
